The Reposado Project

They say tequila gets better with age, as does whiskey and wine, so why not songwriting? When I was 25 I was hell bent on being a songwriter. Looking back, I realize now that my biggest shortcoming was not having enough songs in me that needed to come out.
So today, with a lifetime of experiences in my rear-view mirror, I’ve jumped back on the songwriting saddle to see if the boots fit any better.
Over the past year I’ve written over 20 songs, and I enjoy singing all of them far more than anything I’ve written in the past. However, I am a slightly less-than-objective judge and critic.

As a result, each week I’ll be sharing one of these songs…hoping to get constructive feedback that will guide how deeply I continue down theis rabbit hole…. potentially paring those 20 songs down to a dozen or so that could form the basis of a new album.

If you’re so inclined, have a listen as the songs come out, and share any thoughts, advice, or critiques that you may have. I promise to embrace it all, the good, the bad and even feedback in the “what the heck were you thinking” category.
In reality, if even one of these songs causes someone to reflect on a point in their lives, dream bigger, or simply to put a smile on their face, I’ll consider this to have been a journey worth taking.
Cheers in music!

PS: Reposato in the tequila world refers to improving a product with aging. Here’s hoping this project will discover that the “reposado affect” is transferable to the art of songwriting.
